The king penguin (Aptenodytes patagonicus) is the second largest of the 18 species of penguins that exist in the world. It is a migratory bird that moves in search of food, from its breeding areas in sub-Antarctic islands to the Antarctic circumpolar water.

Our itinerary

day 1

Reception at the Mount Pleasant Military Base in Falkland Islands. Transfer by bus to Puerto Argentino. Accommodation and free afternoon to explore the small town and its points of interest. Free dinner


day 2

Transfer to the local airport and internal flight to Sea Lion Island. Upon arrival, a small reconnaissance tour of the island is done in an all-terrain vehicle. In the vicinity of the lodge you can see hawks and colonies of yellow plume penguins (Eudyptes chrysocome) and Papua (Pygoscelis papua). 

The visit to sea lions (Otaria flavescens) in East Loafer and sea elephants (Mirounga leonina) in Elephant Corner is a must. Includes breakfast, lunch and dinner.


day 3

Free day to tour Sea Lion. This day can be used to visit other colonies or to inform and participate in a reforestation activity of the tussac (Poa flabellata), a characteristic plant of the Falkland Islands that was decimated by sheep and is now recovering in different islands of the archipelago . Includes breakfast, lunch and dinner.


day 4

Internal flight from Sea Lion to Port Howard. After staying, you can visit the small local museum, and explore the surroundings. It is common to see dolphins (Lagenorhynchus cruciger) from its dock. Includes breakfast, lunch and dinner.


day 5

Full day visit to the surroundings of Port Howard and Hill Cove. There are many attractive, geological, natural and historical areas in the area. Unmissable are the visit to the cradle of fossils and the battlefields near the settlement. However, you can choose to visit the Hawknest Lagoon, where 18 species of birds can be identified, including the black-necked swan (Cygnus melancoryphus). Includes breakfast, lunch and dinner.


day 6

Port Howard - Puerto Argentino flight, transfer to accommodation and full day excursion to Punta Voluntario with visit to the King Penguin Colony (Aptenodytes patagonicus). Includes breakfast and lunch box. Free dinner


day 7

Breakfast. Visit Darwin, Goose Green and San Carlos (lunch included). Visit to the Argentine Cemetery in Darwin and the British Cemetery in San Carlos. Free dinner


day 8

Breakfast. At mid-morning, transfer by bus to the Military Base for your return flight. An airport fee of £ 22 must be paid in cash.
