1. Operator
South Explorer (Parques EVT, License No. 13994, Resolution 1561), headquartered at Mariano Moreno 2093 Sur, Barreal, Calingasta, San Juan, Argentina, is a licensed tourism operator registered with the Province of San Juan's Tourism Authority.
2. Application & Acceptance
To participate in any South Explorer expedition, participants must complete and return signed copies of: (a) Personal Information Form, (b) Medical Information Form, and (c) Assumption of Responsibility and Risk Form. These forms must be submitted at least 20 days before departure.
Acceptance of your application is subject to review of the submitted forms. South Explorer reserves the right to decline participation if medical or health conditions present unacceptable safety risks.
3. Pricing & Payment
The price for the Andes Horseback Expedition is USD 2,000 per person. A reservation deposit of 50% is required to confirm your spot. The balance must be paid prior to departure.
Payments in Argentine Pesos (ARS) are converted at the Banco Nación Argentina official exchange rate (tipo billete vendedor) on the date of each payment. Prices do not include applicable municipal or provincial taxes.
Accepted payment methods: monthly installment plan, bank transfer, credit card, cash (ARS or USD).
4. Cancellation & Refund Policy
No refunds will be issued under any circumstances for a participant's withdrawal from the expedition, whether due to personal, medical or force majeure reasons. The participant assumes full responsibility for any expenses incurred as a result of withdrawal.
In the event South Explorer cancels a departure due to failure to reach the minimum number of participants (10), the operator may reschedule the departure to another date in the season, by prior agreement with confirmed passengers.
5. Minimum Group Requirement
All departures are subject to a minimum of 10 confirmed participants. Departures remain in "pending confirmation" status until October 31, 2026, at which point those meeting the minimum will be confirmed. The operator may reschedule departures that do not meet the minimum by prior agreement with registered participants.
Private departures require a minimum of 16 paid passengers.
6. Participant Requirements
Participants must be 18 years of age or older. Minors aged 14–17 may participate only when accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Participants must not suffer from heart conditions or blood pressure problems. All other medical conditions must be reported in the Medical Information Form.
7. Liability & Risk
The expedition takes place in remote, rugged terrain at high altitude (up to 4,500 m.a.s.l.). Participants acknowledge inherent risks including but not limited to: extreme altitude, severe weather, river crossings, falling rocks, extreme temperatures, and remoteness from medical facilities.
South Explorer shall not be held responsible for any injury, loss, or damage to participants or their belongings. Prior to departure, all participants must sign the Assumption of Responsibility and Risk Form, which constitutes a sworn declaration (declaración jurada).
8. Itinerary Modifications
South Explorer reserves the right to modify the itinerary or suspend any activities when weather conditions, safety concerns, or other circumstances require it. The safety of participants is always the priority. No refund is due for modifications made for safety reasons.
9. Conduct
The consumption of any substance that alters perception or motor functions is strictly prohibited during the expedition. Non-compliance may result in immediate expulsion without any refund. All participants agree to comply with guides' instructions at all times.
10. Governing Law
These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of the Province of San Juan, Republic of Argentina. Any dispute shall be submitted to the courts of San Juan, Argentina.
