Overview

Chapada dos Veadeiros is one of the oldest landscapes on Earth: quartz plateaus, palm-lined rivers and dozens of waterfalls in the Brazilian cerrado. This expedition goes beyond the classic park trails into the Kalunga territory, home to the largest quilombola community in Brazil.

Kalunga guides lead you to Santa Bárbara's turquoise pool and the Capivara falls, sharing the history of a community founded by people who escaped slavery. Nights alternate between a village guesthouse and a riverside camp.
