Overview

The Cocora Valley is home to the Quindío wax palm, Colombia's national tree, which can grow up to 60 m tall. This loop hike starts with a jeep ride from Salento and climbs through cloud forest, across wobbly suspension bridges, to a hummingbird reserve.

The return follows a ridge with sweeping views of palms rising out of green pastures — the classic postcard of the Coffee Axis. Finish with a cup of local coffee back in Salento.
