Overview

This programme builds altitude step by step: an acclimatisation hike around 4,000 m, a first summit on Cerro Toco (5,604 m) and a rest day before the main objective, Sairecabur (6,040 m), on the Chile–Bolivia border.

The final ascent starts from a high camp before dawn and follows long scree and snow slopes to a summit with views over dozens of volcanoes. It is a serious high-altitude climb, but technically straightforward with crampons in snowy years.
