Overview
A motorized canoe takes you up the Tambopata River to a lodge inside the national reserve. From there, naturalist guides lead walks, canopy climbs and night excursions in search of tapirs, caimans, monkeys and hundreds of bird species.
The highlight is dawn at a clay lick, where scarlet and blue-and-gold macaws gather by the hundreds to feed on mineral-rich soil. You also paddle an oxbow lake home to a family of giant otters.
